Kaaya (カーヤ) (Born March 28),[citation needed] is a character from the anime series The Tower of Druaga: The Aegis of Uruk and its sequel The Tower of Druaga: The Sword of Uruk. Kaaya is a 17 year old oracle who specializes in defensive and healing spells. She meets Jil after he injures himself fighting a group of climbers, and she takes him to her house and heals his wounds then Jil later joins her and Ahmey's climber party. She uses a long wand which requires her to place small runes into a slot at the top and recite various chants to perform certain spells. She is a descendant of Ki, who aided Gilgamesh in his battle against Druaga. Kaaya takes over the throne after the death of the other Gilgamesh with the death of the original one and Neeba. Like Jil and Gilgamesh (Gil), the name Kaaya (pronounced KAI-YAA) was most likely inspired by her great-grandmather Ki (pronounced KAI).
In the last episode of The Tower of Druaga: The Aegis of Uruk, Neeba tells Jil that Kaaya was going with him , much to Jil's dismay. Kaaya is doing this not because she wants to, but because she has to, leaving her on the verge of tears. Before leaving, Kaaya and Neeba release a waterfall which washes away Jil and the others, depositing them in a lake.
In season 2, episode 12, Kaaya apologizes to Jil and says he was a good friend. She reveals "Kaaya" wasn't her real name. Her real name is Ishara, the great-granddaughter of King Gilgamesh, making her the heir to the throne of Uruk after Gilgamesh's death. She is voiced by Fumiko Orikasa in Japanese and Trina Nishimura in the English dub.
Abilities[]
As an oracle, Kaaya can use various defensive spells and mainly uses support spells. She can use her defensive spells to cast shields. Her support spells mainly consist of imbuing spells such as increasing the agility and power of allies, healing spells as well as insulation and freezing abilities. Kaaya lacks offensive spells, one familiar offensive spell is that she can cast a sleeping spell. Another one is where she utilizes a spell that can destroy Guardian Druaga's barrier.
